Invaluable Virtues

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their first Character Virtues Day of this academic year and engaged wholeheartedly.  The children showed a secure understanding of the fact that developing their character is equally as important as developing their maths or reading skills. Their activities were based around two important virtues. Firstly, co-operation. The children always work co-operatively together in class in line with our core value of ‘teamwork’, but today they further explored the phrase ‘Many hands make light work’. The children quickly learnt through some problem solving activities that if not everybody pulls their weight, things don’t always go to plan.

Secondly, the children challenged their thoughts on what to do in situations which were scary. They came to the conclusion that the virtue of courage was needed and that by using courage to overcome our fears, we can all be superheroes!
