Human And Physical Geographical Features

Year 1 have been very successful geologists this week and in preparation of their future geographical learning, have been further developing their understanding of human and physical features. The children can now confidently explain that as we look around us, the things that we see are either created by humans or by nature.

In doing so, the pupils further extended their vocabulary by discussing and defining more unfamiliar terms, such as, dam, port, harbour, valley and vegetation. The children have also learnt that the four seasons that we experience in the UK, as well as our regularly changing weather forecasts, are both examples of physical features.

Next week, the children will apply this learning when they explore and compare past and present day maps of our home town, Dagenham.
