Habitats- Human or Animal?

This afternoon Year 1 began to explore habitats in their science lesson. They started by confidently defining the word ‘habitat’ as ‘the environment where an animal or plant usually lives’. The children discovered that there are many different types of habitats including the desert, rainforest, coral reefs, woodlands, houses, flats, bungalows and caravans. Their next task was to consider whether each habitat would be better suited to human beings or animals. The children did an amazing job of sorting them using the sorting hoops before we discussed the three essential things that every habitat must provide- water, food and shelter.
